Sure, anything that allows for fresh air to enter the system to cool components and removes heat quickly enough would be good for cooling. 

Active airflow from case fans vastly outweighs the negligible amount of airflow from warmer air rising.

It's possible it could be a good configuration, but we don't know if you would be using a GPU and/or riser cable mounted on the motherboard that gets in the way if the air being force upwards. If the case is raised high enough above the floor it could pull in more fresh air. It all depends on the setup.

Cooler Master MasterCase SL600M dose just that and its a gpu temp topper...but the cpu suffers alot thow an aio would be idel in this case. not only that the gpu blocks the flow.

 

if the gpu heat sink was deigned around  it then it be way better. sadly and dule compartment case would probly be better. i will one day mod my antec lanboy and mount the gpu in the front....one day...

 

water cooling would be way better anyway so there no push really to make things better. we already no placing fans on the gpu already ingress its performance and its not stranded on gpus yet...

 

as for heat rising gets overpowered by even the slowest moving fan so that dose not matter only if it were fan less.
