Do I need to upgrade cpu?

Gannam

So atm, X470 tachi, 2700x, 1080 (real shit one)

ram is 3600 4 sticks of 8 (can't run xmp because of crashing and instability

Having a rather large issue of pretty bad performance and I suspect it's the gpu. 3440x1440 is probably just too much to expect from the system

I already repasted it with quality stuff, helped alot but not for a huge amount.

I don't think it would help much, but wanted to upgrade the cpu and motherboard at some point due to issues with virtual tmp issues just black screening my computer, so had to turn that and secure boot off)

It was more I wanted to just try it, and got frustrated spending hours trying to get that PC heath checker app to even let me try to install it, making me want to upgrade, it's also me wanting to learn using it well enough I can educate customers on how to use it, Since I work in retail working on them

(Not enough of a reason to buy a cheap laptop, because I wouldn't have a need for one)

atm the only thing I bought towards a upgrade is a new psu and 2 nvme drives, since I've seen quite a few of the new motherboards have 3 slots now

GTX 1080 is kind of weak for 3440x1440 gaming and running your RAM at native speed makes it a lot worse.

3440x1440 isn't easy to push. I could see that 1080 struggling.

Agreed. It will struggle at 1080p even in a lot of new games.

I initially got it for mmo since I saw a example of what wow looked like on a ultrawide, fell in love with it, though playing anything modern that demands anything it's back to low everything

Just set RAM frequency to highest CPU memory controller supports.

Highest I have it without constant reboots and crashes is 2733, which isn't great

I get it. I bought a 2560x1080 29.5 inch ultra wide that's 200hz. Even with a 3070 I have games I can't run at high and get over 144fps

No cpu mobo or ram atm

2tb wd black gen 4 nvme

2tb seagate hdd

Corsair rm750x

Be quiet 500dx

Gigabyte m34wq 3440x1440
