How to convert laptop fans to desktop fans

ITALIAN_SOUL

Do any adapters exist to adapt laptop cpu fans to a 3pin connector? i have these laptop fans lying around that im not using for anything. i know the cooling performance wouldnt be great but they would be better than nothing

So first things first, don't.

Laptop fans are useless unless very well constrained. If you don't have something making sure the air goes where you want it to go, it's going to do less than nothing.

If you're still set on doing this, I'm not exactly sure what fans you have, but it probably uses a CRJ mini connector, in which case this adapter would work:

but you can get mediocre PC fans that will still be way better than any laptop fan for the same price as the adapter so don't bother. If you absolutely must use this laptop fan just clip the wires and attach them to the fan header.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Desktop:

Intel Core i7-11700K | Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black | ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E Gaming WiFi  | 32 GB G.SKILL TridentZ 3200 MHz | ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 3080 | 1TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD | 2TB WD Blue M.2 SATA SSD | Seasonic Focus GX-850 Fractal Design Meshify C Windows 10 Pro

Laptop:

HP Omen 15 | AMD Ryzen 7 5800H | 16 GB 3200 MHz | Nvidia RTX 3060 | 1 TB WD Black PCIe 3.0 SSD | 512 GB Micron PCIe 3.0 SSD | Windows 11
