6800XT or 3080 for ultrawide 1440p?

Bobbysixjp

I have just upgraded to an ultrawide 1440p monitor and am thinking of changing my 6800XT for a 3080. In terms of money there is very little difference so it’s more about which is a better fit for this type of monitor. I play mostly AAA games and want to try out games with ray tracing (Watch dogs legion, CP 2077, etc).

CPU i7 14700K | CPU Cooler Noctua NH-U12A | Motherboard MSI Pro Z690-A | GPU Zotac Airo RTX 4080 | RAM 32 GB GSkill Ripjaws V 4400
Mhz |
 Monitor Alienware AW2721D / Gigabyte M28U | PSU ASUS ROG Strix 850G

If you wanna do RTX, get the 3080. AMD's RTX is... not good.

Yeah I tried to live without RT and DLSS but I few that I am leaving some performance on the table especially if the price is the same.

Go with the 3080 for sure. 3440x1440 is demanding and you can gain some decent fps using dlss

No cpu mobo or ram atm

2tb wd black gen 4 nvme

2tb seagate hdd

Corsair rm750x

Be quiet 500dx

Gigabyte m34wq 3440x1440
