Looking for a good 750w psu

Sladerz

I'm looking for a good psu that will last me but i'd prefer to not to spend too much so i can invest into a better gpu. I am currently using a corsair cx430 and it lasted me about 2 years before it started to make horrible coil whine(probably my fault when opened it up to clean out dust).

I saw this psu but idk if its worth it to be cheap or just buy something more expensive and have it last longer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139051&ignorebbr=1

My current specs are:

Case: silverstone redline RL04B

motherboard: msi z87-g45

Cpu: i7 4770k

Ram: 2x4gig kingston beast

ssd: 120gb samsung evo

hdd: 1 wd blue 1tb

        1 wd green 500gb

        1 wd blue 500gb

dvdrw drive: some off brand

Get a Seasonic oem (Some corsairs, XFX). More expensive however they will last you for some time to come

+1 for the Corsair RM 750 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EB7UITQ. It's an excellent Gold rated, fully modular power supply.

What's your budget?

What GPU you plan on using? Do you plan to SLI/CFX?

The CX750M isn't a bad unit itself, but considering how the CX belong in the entry level segment for Corsair, there's a few price cut that had been made on the internal components. If you can spend more money on, I would personally get a higher-quality unit.

im still deciding on the gpu but it depends on how much i can put towards it. The gpu wont be higher than $300 though. I might sli/cfx in the future but right now i wont because i cant afford it. $150 is my max budget for the psu

So something along the lines of GTX 770 or the 280x possibly?

My recommendation will be along the lines of (from most to least):

EVGA Supernova 750 G2 ($126.48 or $116.48 after MIR) : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438017

XFX ProSeries 750w Black Edition($119.99 or $99.99 after MIR) : http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=78946&vpn=P1-750B-BEFX&manufacture=XFX&promoid=1296

Corsair HX750v2 ($109.99 with promo or $89.99 after MIR) : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010

Cooler Master V750S ($104.99 or $89.99 after MIR) : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171094

Obligatory EVGA Supernova G2 suggestion: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438017  :)

10 years warranty. Much much better quality that the famous Corsair RM series. Can't beat that.

Edit: opps @quan289 just ninja'd me. Question: Is the CM VS series a great unit? Never seen any reviews on them.

The V550S model had been reviewed by TPU. It's not on the level of the Supernova G2 or Seasonic KM3 design units that I had suggested, but it is an excellent performing, well-design PSU, as for $89.99 for the 750w variant, it isn't a bad deal.

just checked my email and noticed newegg has a code that you can get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=17-151-120&nm_mc=EMC-GD040914&cm_mmc=EMC-GD040914-_-index-_-Item-_-17-151-120 for $120 + a $20 rebate. So is this one good as well or should i just go with the ones listed above?

That's an excellent power supply for an excellent price. If you can get it for $99.99 after MIR, I would get it.
