Alternative apps (quick google search):

SoloLearn, i think its free based on their forum:

https://www.sololearn.com/Discuss/135033/is-sololearn-fully-free

Also if you want to program without an app like that:

If you are on android, You can install

Acode (Mobile IDE):

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foxdebug.acodefree

Termux (linux shell for python and stuff):

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.termux

Theres VIM for android (if your into that kinda thing):

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidvim

My advice:

Get a laptop or a chromebook, or something thats not as tiny as your phone, starring a long time at your phone programming is bad for your eyes, And its a miserabel experience on android, cant speak for iphone never tried.

If you get a chromebook you can use sites like:

https://replit.com/

https://trinket.io/

You don't need a gaming PC for coding.

Like @WolframaticAlphaalready pointed out a Raspberry Pi would be a good low cost solution for you @cottechguy.
You can get the Raspberry Pi 400 Personal Computer Kit for 100$, comes with: keyboard, mouse, SD card, power adapter, HDMI cable.

https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-400/

The only additional cost is a monitor if you don't have one already. It doesn't need to be fancy, 1080p @60Hz will do just fine and you can find 22" with a TN panel second hand for  ~30$, or you buy a new one with IPS panel for ~120$

  • 1 month later...

If you run an Android phone, check Andronix app. It allows to run a full-blown Linux distro of your choice on your phone. The trick is that the distro runs on top of the same Linux kernel as your Android system.

https://vscode.dev/

That's where I go when I need to write a few lines on the go. Full git support, etc. Just have to close the side bar or it'll get in the way lol.

GitHub also now has code spaces but I believe you need to have an organization and ask for it as it's still in beta I think. Also you have to pay for them per minute as they have to spin up a vps for you.

Why would you want to restrict yourself to Python?

Write in C.
