I know a fair amount about computers but I have never built one, so I'm not 100% sure these components will work together.

- Can this do 144Hz at 1440p or 1080p?

- Is it ok to use the stock cooler for the first little bit to save some money for now?

- For a fan layout can I do 3 intakes on the front and 2 exhausts, one on the back and one on the roof until I get the cpu cooler?

- When I get the cpu cooler can it go on the roof as an exhaust?

- What tools/resources do I need to build the computer?

- If in the future I was to add more ram would I have to get the exact same two sticks of ram

Aside from way overspending on the fans, it's a good build. Also, you might want to add more storage, but that's something you can do later.

Edit:

And you should definitely get a 5600X instead of the 3700X.

Yup.

Yup

Yup. That is my preferred config, because the GPU will get better temps vs having the CPU cooler at the front, dumping it's heat into the case.

  • Patience,
  • A magnetic philips head screw driver.
  • Some zip ties.
  • Windows Installation Media/USB drive.
  • Find a Youtube Video on LTT, or Paul's Hardware, that goes into detail about the steps if you need help.

That's the best way to do it, although still not guaranteed to work.

I'm not an expert on fans controllers, but I can say a few things nevertheless.

Firstly, 3700X isn't really the best option. Obviously it depends on resolution of monitor, but if you are going to play in 1440p, even something like 10400f will be enough for this GPU. At 1080p something a bit more powerful like 11400f will be just fine.

Stock cooler shouldn't be an issue if you go with AMD, but Intel ones are rubbish. You don't however have to get a 240mm AIO, a simple tower cooler will be enough.

RAM can easily be 3200 MHz, at this price point there won't be much difference anyways. Yes you can add a different one later, it will only default to speed of slower one. And there might be some issues running XMP, so above 3200.

Windows can be easily bought for much much less on (semi-) official sites.

Now, I'm mentioning all of these potential cost cuts because there is no way you'll get 3060ti for $550CAD, even at retail. Also, currently the best value GPU in this price range is Radeon 6600 XT, so consider it.

Will either of those GPUs run 1440p144? Unless you play new AAA games, it shouldn't be an issue, and neither should be 1080p144.

As a sidenote, SN550 had its components quietly changed, i'd avoid it.

If you're mainly gaming, then yes the 5600X will be a much better option. Go for WD SN750 instead. Also, you can go with the RGB version of the case, and just add one case fan at the back of the case. The case will already come with a RGB hub, so you'll only want the Commander Pro.

Also, do you already have the gpu, or what's going on with that?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($356.75 @ shopRBC)

$1999.25

EDIT: It comes with a lighting node core, which is still a solid piece of equipment. However, if you want the enclosed Lighting Node PRO, go for the ll120 3-pack again. Just know that you'll have to connect one fan to fan header and rgb header on the motherboard, so not as clean cable management, but could be worth it. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/8BmPRT

Possibly.

If it's a newly-manufactured board it should run the 5600X out of the box, but if you end up with some old backstock, it might need a BIOS flash. If in doubt, contact the seller.

I made another list, in case you actually need everything, and need to fit it all in that budget. I went with a different gpu selection too, because I wasn't sure if you had the gpu or not yet.

It's fine, but for the same price of that you can get a drive with dram and generally faster:

Silicon Power P34A80

ADATA XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro

Mushkin Pilot-E

For the continuing 6 vs 8 core debate, it depends. 3700X would be nice if you want to run multiple monitors and have lots of other programs running in the background (discord, chrome, etc.) while gaming. A good budget CPU is 10400f if you only running 1 monitor and typically don't have too much background programs running. Alternatively, you can look at the 10700f with a B560 board which is a bit faster than the 3700X for about the same price.

For your level of hardware, I would stick an 8 core in it just cause the price difference is relatively small in comparison to the entire cost of system.

You have a better shot at it running the rated speeds if you get the same sticks. Mixing ram sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

There is NO way you get a 3060ti for $550 CAD. It's gonna cost $800 at very least.

Better CPU, so what? 5950X is also better, yet OP is not going to see a frame rate increase anyways if he is running 3060ti. 11400f is going to be enough.
