I found a pretty good Zotac gtx 1070 mini deal, should I take it?

Yes, there isn't much difference in the way of performance or damage... just that a mining card has a LOT more hours on it and potentially nearing end of life sooner than a card used a dozen hours a week gaming.

Like saying highway vs regular road driving isn't bad for a car, but one that's driving 24/7 is going to have a lot more miles.  I'd take a low mileage car vs a high mileage car any day, because while the drivetrain may not be a problem... all the other stuff dealt with heat much longer.

Hi

so I have been hunting for a good deal on a gpu and I seem to have found one. The only issue is that the card seems to have been a mining card and the seller in the description states "full temperature"... whatever that means...

I'm a little hesitant in taking the offer, so some feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Also I would like to know whether or not 1070 is going to be sufficient for a few years or will I have to upgrade in like a couple of years?

the rest of my system is:

asus tuf z490

I5-10400

2*8gb 3000mhz g-skill aegis

Samsung evo 970 250gb

650w cooler master power supply

The price is a number we need to determine whether the risk is worth it. +What games your looking to play at what settings... we can't tell you whether it will be a good card for you if you don't tell us what your plans are for it performance expectations wise.

At this stage, I wouldn't get a mined 1070.  it's out of warranty, so you're holding the bag.

The fact that it's been mined with is usually bad, but it could be considerable if the price is good enough.

The 1070 is still a decent gaming card these days, it's fine for 1080p 60fps gaming and 1440p 60fps in some older titles, just not at max settings. For your build a 1070 would be fine for a couple of years. It's not if you demand high refresh rate gaming or 1440p for all titles.

The card would have to be pretty cheap for me to even consider buying it. I wouldn't pay over $250 but that's me. This is a card that released 5 years ago, it might not be that old but expecting that card to last a few more years is a stretch. If you play old games at 1080p or stuff like siege, valorant, cs go you'll be ok but new releases might not be a good time

The card is 450$ but compared to the market here, it's actually the same price as a 1650 or 1650s so it's considered a pretty good deal... maybe part of me feels like it's too good

well, I'm running a 70hz 1080p monitor which I am not planning on upgrading anytime soon. so I'm looking for a card that can give me 60hz on 1080p on ultra or high settings on most games.

yes, I actually have seen that, and they're the reason why I'm even considering this card.

And yeah man, I have been using integrated graphics for over a year now, constantly raising my budget but I can't keep up with the inflation.

This makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the insight!

so overall I'm better off increasing my budget and getting a brand new one, right?

Yes, $450 for a very used 1070 is just not worth it, even in today's market.

What region are you in?

Btw, is your name Mohammad Hunter or do you hunt Mohammads?  Cuz one is cool and one is... just not cool at all and should be changed 🙂

I am from Iran. we have a very isolated market here and pretty much everything is at least 30% more expensive than normal. (for example a wired Logitech G502 costs some 80 or 90$ while it's only 45$ in amazon.)

My first name is Mohammad and my last name's translation to English is Hunter... I actually had never thought of Mohammad Hunter like that Lol
