OSX Catalina Vs Linux 2021

Hey, I have an older mac Mini from 2011. With the Dosdude patch it maxed out at Catalina. Its annoying, I can't update to the newest iMovie. How does Catalina 10.15.5 (can't update to 10.15.6) compare to the newest Linux distros like Elementary 6?

Why not setup. dual boot and try it for your self?

 

Linux isn't gonna fix the iMovie issue, and the video editing on linux really isn't that great currently.

Instead of iMovie, why not use DaVinci Resolve? It's free, full-featured, and doesn't require Big Sur.

Can vouch for Resolve, I run a YouTube channel with over 5M views at this time and I normally edit in Premiere but I used to use Resolve and it's definitely the best free editing software out there hands down.

So, keep MacOS and use Resolve or Resolve on Linux? Since its maxed at Catalina, are there security issues?

Resolve on Catalina. No reason to upgrade, really. My main tether computer is still running mojave.

Apple still releases security patches for older OS versions.
