i have clips that i want to make to a film.

some clips are 30fps, while others are 60fps.

i read that using 60fps frame rate makes no difference to a 30fps clip, just increases the file size.

so how can i make the 60fps clips "be" 60 fps, because if i render in 30fps, it just makes the 60fps clips decrease in quality.

(the reason i recorded some clips in 60fps is so i can slow it down and stuff, becuae slowing down a 30fps clip can be choppy.)

should i render in 30fps? will i get the same result with the 60fps?

In frame rate you can type in 60 to replace the 59.94. Further down that window there's a resampling option, I think many people find forced disable to be best. It affects how it adjusts framerates if your source file doesn't exactly match the output rate. The resample it sometimes does causes smearing between frames which looks bad.

What you described there is called variable frame rate and I am not sure if vegas supports it. It is also something I despise so I would not suggest using in any way.

If you mean time stretching/compressing clips outside native recorded rate, Vegas supports that. It is a creative choice and not going away.

Nope, that file would have a constant framerate. What I mean is output file having variable frame rate. I am aware of slowing down videos.

you can render the clips seperatly and combine them with youtube editor for example

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

Ok, I misunderstood the ask. I have no idea if Vegas supports that, but given its lack of flexibility in encoding options I'd doubt it.

So with that understanding, I think rendering at either fixed 30fps or 60fps is still an option. As described in my previous post, disable resampling as that helps with frame rate changes between source and output. See if 30fps is good enough. Even if 60fps turns out to be required, hopefully the quality/data rate wont really suffer for 30fps original portions, since there should be less frame delta data to be created.

You probalby want 59.94 fps here, no 60. Almost always for video its 59.94 fps not 60 actually, and very few cameras shoot in 60fps. Just a weird NTSC color quirk

This is a disconnenct between historic formats and modern uses. If I capture game footage at 60fps, it is 60.00 fps. I don't know if the OP is dealing in conventional video or other sources, but since they mentioned 60fps, I said they can enter 60fps if they want to.

Makes me wonder now, do monitors display at say 60fps or 59.97fps when sold as 60fps?

Most monitors show 60fps, but many give a option for 59.94.

The big reason id stick with 59.94 is that many video programs assume 60 is really 59.94, so they have issues with real 60fps footage, or you get mixed 60 and 59.94 footage. Its just easier working with 59.94 as basically everything supports it.
