And what happens when you boot up with only a single stick installed? Do you get a full 8/8GB useable?

This is what I would try:

  1. Remove one stick of RAM and clear CMOS.
  2. Boot the PC with the single stick.
  3. reinstall the second stick and clear CMOS.
  4. Boot the PC.

If that doesn't work.

  1. Remove a stick again, and put the remaining stick in a different slot, and clear CMOS.
  2. Boot the PC.
  3. Reinstall the second stick again in a different or weird slot, and clear CMOS.
  4. Put the RAM back into the correct slots, and clear CMOS.

Basically trying to force the memory controller to reset itself by changing the RAM configuration and clearing CMOS.

Hey Everyone,

i am having this issue of ram reserved for hardware. I have 2 sticks of 8gb memory but only able to use only 8gb and 8gb is hardware reserved which is very annoying for my work.

Tried everything from internet but the problem is not solved.

Checked Both ram sticks individually and both are working fine.

they might be in the wrong slots, make sure your using slots A2 and B2. Some boards are picky and will do exactly this if they're in the wrong place.

That is not correct. Clearing CMOS does not change your BIOS version.

B350-F officially supports 2gen CPU's so i don't think you will have to update bios, it should work perfectly fine.

Just short the jumper and clear CMOS 🙂

I'm here to help you out with some basic tasks, I'm still learning some things, so don't belive I can solve everything 😉

I'm collecting all type of hardware - 90% of my collection is a LGA775 stuff rest is some 2010's Era

Sure , Like you told to clear the CMOS done exactly that didn't cleared one by one ram at a time but it worked

1. Power Off and Unplugged the power cord from the cpu

2. Locate the CMOS jumper on you motherboard and short them

3. Replug the power cord and start you PC first it took me to bios setup but i didn't messed with anything and exited. It will boot up automatically.
