Hi Guys,

I feel my 6900xt Sapphire Nitro+ is underperforming. My card does not seem to want to even hit 2500mhz boost clocks. Not only that, It refuses to hit minimum clocks over 2200. If I set it 2300,2400,2500 etc… It will still got as low as 2200. This information is based off Time Spy and Port Royal.

Can someone please tell me if this is normal or not? Is it time to RMA?

Troubleshooting done:

BIOS Update

DDU Uninstall/reinstall drivers

Windows reinstall.

Windows High performance power mode

Narrow (100 gap) min/max freqs

Wide (200-400 gap) min/max freqs.

Undervolting ( Anything under 1162 seems unstable with current settings)

VRAM – 2150 Fast timing on/off ( I’ve tried lower timing aswell)

Current Settings:

Power: +15%

VRAM: 2150 ( Fast Timings)

Min/max Freq: 2300/2600

Voltage: 1162

J Temp: Under 90c

GPU Temp: Under 65c

Benchmarks:

Portroyal: Low 10,000

Timespy (GPU) : Low 20,000

Specs:

Fractal Meshify 2 (Bought new as a troubleshooting measure for airflow)

5800x w/ Lian Li Gallahad 360

6900xt Sapphire Nitro+

850rmx Gold+

B550 Vision D

Royal Trident 3600 CL19 32gb

Could be normal.  Implies it’s not being pushed very hard at that time.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

The big one would be what was or wasn’t running at the time.  Someone posted hwinfo numbers recently that were quite useful.

I did try to make sure everything was closed and after the fresh windows install I've downloaded very little, but when I get home I'll try and post the hwinfo stats. Thanks.

You're using 2 PCIE cables right? 2 8 pin cables at the GPU and 2 at the PSU. Not the pigtailed, 1 PSU connection does 2 GPU connections.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

1440P UW.

The second question I can't really answer, I played a solid 2 weeks of New World closed beta, then out came a baby. Time is stretched at the moment, not many games being played.  I barely have time doing these bench marks haha.

I have a 6800 XT and the clock speeds it reaches depends on the game or application that I am using. For some games it tends to boost pretty high (around 2500 to 2600 MHz) bit for some only around 2300 MHz. Not sure why this is.

Imo nope?

"up to" and you're still above the 2050mhz.

also thats not how a gpu works, you dont just get the highest clocks, you need to push it, and have the hw to do so, maybe your cpu is limiting it (i dunno?)

Lastly there is no guarantee for overclocking, ever.

I think it’s most likely something other than the Video card that is the problem.

I understand your comment about the hardware. Thats why i included a thorough list of my specs, as I believe I do have the hardware to do so. If I don't could you please have a look at the specs list and tell me where you think I'm falling short.

I'm also comparing my clocks to what i've seen around and what I'm trying to accomplish seems very modest.

There are heaps of 6800xts with better scores , see the comment above.

Hopefully I've done this report right...

Never seen that hdwmonitor panel before.  Seems to just talk about memory use and virtual memory.  And is saying that even though you have virtual memory allotted (why? Probably doesn’t matter) you’re not even close to using it.  If you ever were of course it could explain the slowdown. You’re not though.
