Posted August 2, 2021 I am currently running 2400 MHz 2x8gb crucial ballistix ram (it has a latency of 16 clocks) with my Ryzen 7 3800X. This CPU is advertised to have a base clock of 3.90GHz and a boost clock of 4.5GHz, however, when I was putting the CPU under stress (CPU-Z and cinebench r23), the CPU was only running at about 4.0-4.03GHz. Would this be due to my RAM being too slow or that I have inadequate cooling since I am using the stock Wraith Prism cooler.
 Posted August 2, 2021 Yes cooling is the issue, but Ryzen does respond well to fclk/mclk increases AMD R7 5800X3D | Thermalright Aqua Elite 360, 3x TL-B12, 2x TL-K12 Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 32GB G.Skill Trident Z @ 3733C14 1.5v Zotac 4070 Ti Trinity OC @ 3045/1495 | WD SN8501TB, SN850X2TB Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 | Fractal Torrent Compact, 2x TL-B14, TL-D14X
 Posted August 2, 2021 The maximum boost is for single core loads, so any stress test that uses multiple cores isn't going to reach that speed. While RAM can have an impact on performance, it's not going to lower the clock speed of your CPU.
