Can you use 2 seperate GPUS?

Phobosy
Go to solution Solved by OhioYJ,

You can run two GPUs FYI. At my last job almost everyone in the office had two GPUs in their PC so we could run 4 monitors. (Had to use what we could get)

So I recently upgraded to a 3070-Ti and it doesnt have dual link dvi so I can't connect my second to it at 144hz as for some reason it only supports 144hz through dual link DVI. Would i be able to put a cheap low profile GPU in the PC aswell like a GT 710 just to output to my second monitor?

I wouldn't see why not, but what about cable converters to switch from DVI Dual Link to HDMI/DisplayPort?

You need a VERY specific active Dual link 2560*1440 at 60hz capable adapter (this is to make sure it does have the data throughput) and those can be quite expensive. Even then it might now work.

Ah ok, so then GT 710 is the solution then. They should hopefully be pretty cheap.

Kinda but really the adapter is the proper solution here they just need to make sure it can be returned as they can be finicky with the cards they like. The issue with gpu passthrough is that well the gt 710 no joke can overheat because of it or get really annoyingly loud on the fan 710 models :p.

Oh so I was right before. I thought that there may be an issue with costs for the adapter due to DVI port being dual link. (Still early in the morning for me to think about "adapter" haha)

You don't need a second GPU (you have already one) or an adapter 🙂

You just have to activate your Intel IGP in your BIOS and connect your DVI screen on your motherboard.
