Embedding of YouTube Shorts

Murasaki

They're a thing now for some reason though their URLs differ so they're not embedding. Not even sure if they're embeddable but still thought I'd point this out.

Normal video:

Short:

https://youtube.com/shorts/_xau_r7M45A

"The link could not be embedded because there is no video at that URL."

Seems like YT uses something different something different for their shorts (You can change a short to a regular video by replacing "Shorts" with "watch" but it still doesn't embed).

https://m.youtube.com/watch/_xau_r7M45A?feature=share

Edit:- I got it embedded.

Yeah it requires some URL wizardry but doing it every time on a phone is pain!

Here's how you do it:-

1. Cick share on Short

2.  Open a Incognito window(to prevent it from directly opening in app) and Replace "Shorts" with "Watch" on URL.

3. When it opens as a regular video click on share and copy link.

4.Open a incognito tab and paste the youtu.be url (You can't embed a shortened yt url here)

5. Copy the URL from address bar directly.

And Done! Now you can embed a short.

Yes I've done that a few times LOL; It'd be great if it can embed by itself is what I mean.

It should be supported in the next major forum update, but I don't have a timeline for that yet.

sometimes youtube shorts is nice, but generally it makes doubt the feature.

when there are other areas I wish they could change or add. But I guess they are very nice for "capturing a moment" or see behind the scenes, or for memes 😛

Yeah sure i guess theres tiktok but clipping a part of a video is basically a twitch thing. Usually something funny happening on stream and they go "somebody clip that!".
