Midrange LGA 1200 gaming cpu recommendations

Good news for me, I finally got selected in the newegg shuffle and scored a 3070, bad news I also got burdened with an almost $300 lga 1200 mobo with it and instead of going through all the hassle of trying to flip it I'm just going to roll with it since it otherwise seems to have all the features I was already looking for in my next mobo buut I have no idea what's considered a decent intel cpu these days.
I'm just going to be gaming at 1440p, no streaming, no productivity, nada. So hoping you guys can steer me in the right direction.

The 10400 served me great gaming at 1440p. Do you want to overclock? 

No cpu mobo or ram atm

Get a k version i5 or i7 and call it a day. At least got a card. I've been trying for months
