1.55v XMP on AMD Optimized Kit.

Go to solution Solved by WhitetailAni,

There is no safe RAM voltage for CPUs. The RAM voltage doesn't affect the CPU in any way.

The IMC/SOC (RAM controller) voltage will affect the CPU, but that's different than the RAM voltage and typically set to 1.1V.

I see a G.Skill Trident Z Neo kit 4000CL14 optimized for AMD but it's 1.55v, is that safe to use with Zen3? I've heard whispers 1.5v max. Seems odd G.Skill would sell a 1.55v AMD optimized kit if not.

My ram will do 4000CL16 at 1.4v or cl14 at 1.55v, is it safe for me to daily 1.55v? I can boot and bench 2000FCLK with 4000mem but my scores are lower than 1900fclk 😑 🤣

I daily 1900FCLK with 3800CL14 stable, but it still won't do it without 1.55v either. Should I be concerned at 1.55v dram?

Uh. The IMC is just that, an IMC. Integrated Memory Controller. It's on the CPU, punch too much voltage through it and bake the thing, and your CPU is now bricked as it can no longer talk to RAM (something it needs to even POST).

That said, pretty sure most IMCs on Intel's side have handled up to 1.6v fine, though Intel official spec has remained 1.35v for years now. For Ryzen I'm not sure. Just... really something worth double checking. Hopefully someone with more knowledge/experience on Ryzen drops by, I mostly wanted to correct the post above.

if they can sell cl14 1.55v at stock then it "probably" confirms that 1.55-1.6v is safe, that said i don't have direct cooling on my sticks. I've noticed anything between 1.4-1.5v doesn't change the load temps much, maybe like 2C, and if they stay under 50C then it's all good. CL14 4000 still needs a stroke of luck on the imc though, i wouldn't plan a build on it, rather get the 3600 version, they are probably the same bin anyway.

what am i doing at cl15 4000 🤣

I was going to buy those Oloys, but saved my money because my sticks already do those speeds. They should do alright..

I have had guys tell me up to 1.8 is ok for 24/7.. honestly my board only goes to 1.85 and 1.65 is the most I gave because meow.

Edit:

AMD powah 😄

Yes sir, I believe W7 would bump you easy 100k...

I have some 4300mhz memory SS, but I think it's in the boxed up hardware on a drive somewhere. Lol. I may never find it again ahaha.
