What is SMPS and Micro SMPS? Can I use SMPS with my Micro ATX Board?

SMPS means Switch Mode Power Supply.

Thats what all PSU's nowadays use, i guess if they have to specify they arent the best choice. 😄

 

Instead of using resistance to regulate voltage this just turns it off and on really fast.

 

 

But yes SMPS is fine to use. Most PSU's like  said are SMPS.

I was searching for a PSU and I came across a Zebronics 450 Watt PSU SMPS , first of all do I need to know that my Micro ATX Motherboard needs an SMPS or a Micro SMPS I came across the terms Micro SMPS when I was scrolling down through the questions and answers section in amazon. So is it fine that I use a SMPS for my Micro ATX Board

 

Specs: 

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz 1600Mhz FSB

RAM: Hynix 2 GB 1333Mhz DIMM 240 Pin 10600 PC3

GPU: Radeon HD 8490 1GB

Motherboard: Zebronics G41 D3 Motherboard Micro ATX

HDD: Western Digital HDD 250GB 7200RPM   

PSU: Zebronics 450W PSU SMPS

But yes SMPS is fine to use. Most PSU's like  said are SMPS.
