Safe to cut foil on display?

I was installing a game boy lcd kit and accidentally glued the screen too high. It’s glued on the back of the display, and there’s this foil on the back of the screen. Is this safe to cut, it seems like the only safe way to remove the screen. I haven’t seen this foil on any other screen. Thanks!
