Linux giving more bank for the buck in Minecraft

I used to get around 700 to 800 fps on pop os while playing Minecraft java edition but after shifting to windows for work the fps went to 100 to 150 with optifine. I dont know why windows is not optimised properly they should fix it.

My pc spec:

Cpu:Ryzen 5 3550h 

Gpu1:Vega 8

Gpu2:Gtx1650
Ram:12gb

I see your point, but why would you need more than 150fps in Minecraft?

yeah but i just want to show that windows is shit in optimisation. Microsoft should do something to optimise windows rather making some shitty ui changes

Except for ultra competitive stuff at world tournaments of course.

Because 999fps with adaptive refresh on a 380hz monitor is superior to 150fps on a 380hz monitor. The margins are slim but higher fps also reduces latency with variable refresh rate or artificially limited fps outside of v-sync

After around 2-2.5x your display's refresh rate the extra frames become meaningless. I cap my framerate at 160 on a 77 Hz panel (OC'd from 60, the thing probably can go more but the monitor's firmware doesn't like it)

They should do a lot of things other than UI changes (such as fixing the Settings v. Control Panel war), but I believe that's besides the point.

There's no magical "fix patch" to apply to Windows that will solve everyone's problem, everywhere.

Having 800 FPS on a 60Hz screen though, is pathetic.

i also get 40 fps in warezone at 720p with a fking gtx 1650

Make sure that you're using the same game settings as you did on Pop! OS. 

Make sure it's actually using the GTX 1650 and not the Vega 8 graphics. You may also have to change the power plan settings to use the 1650 when on battery.

i checked the f3 menu it shows nvidia 1650

Is it actually utilising it though? Does GPU-z or MSI afterburner logger show the GPU being utilised and running at its base and boost clocks? Is performance the same when it's plugged in and charging? What does the power plan settings look like in windows? Did you install NVIDIA display drivers when you installed windows?

 

From the significant performance drop you described it doesn't sound like it is due to OS related bloat.

i installed all drivers and while playing minecraft the gpu goes to 60% usage

Yeah still could reduce latency but we are talking 1-5ms which is still in the buffer of humans at like 22-26ms

This may come as a shock to you, but it's probably not Windows. It's comes down to how the game devs made their shit, not how Windows does whatever it does. I could blame Windows all I want for how shit runs on my PC, but that doesn't get around the fact that my system as a whole is equivalent to a grandma trying to deadlift 200 pounds.

thats a low spec laptop,so dont get suprised you get so low fps.Its not Windows fault with the Warzone..
