Samsung G77 monitor buzzing sound

kalmoa

There was another thread found here that had the same issue as mine. And the only thing that removes the sound, is if I change the hz to something lower than 240hz. And to be clear, the sound comes from the bottom of the LED screen, near where the front lights are.

What I tried.

  • Changing to DP2

  • Resetting the Monitor

  • Upgraded to Firmware 1003.1

  • Turned off Adaptive-Sync

  • Turned off Local Dimming

  • Turned off Core Lighting

Update:

  • When unplugging the DP cable, the sound still occurs

  • Tried different power outlets and power strips, still same issue

  • If I press firmly on the front and back of the panel, where the buzz sound is, it mutes the sound [almost entirely]

Currently the only "solution", is to lower the monitor from 240hz to any other refresh rate. Samsung support claims this sound is caused by a cooling fan in the monitor, which can become more quiet when decreasing the brightness or lowering the refresh rate. But I don't necessarily believe this, considering that lowering the brightness does nothing, and the high pitch noise abruptly stops when changing to 144hz/120hz/60hz on the monitor, which isn't indicative of a fan slowing down.
