so ive been trying to download games and on the steam network useage thing it keeps cutting out it gets 70mbs then it gets 0 then it goes back up then back to zero i was even playing fortnite while this was happening and i had no problems with fortnite or anything 

so i ran a speed test and all seemed fine im very confused

ive tried restarting my, pc, router, steam and it keeps happening on eithernet too aswell as wifi

so long you are sure it the internet and nothing else.

also steam was down at some point but not all of steam, also making sure you are not being throttled, from provider or card or other loads on your network.

could also be bad signal, maybe? from distance or interference. sometimes steam can also have problems and maybe only that game is hard to download.

most steam bugs are often with taking loger time it should or be stuck.

 

you could also try steam settings and see if reducing and set download speed helps, or download region.

are you installing to a hdd or ssd?

If the OS, fortnite, and steam are all trying to access the same hdd I can see it being a huge bottleneck.

Look at the disk usage & network usage in steam, if network is constantly higher than disk it could be steam pausing the download to let the disk catch up.

i have gigabit wifi i dont even use it i use gigbite either net and router is right next to my pc and the hard drive is brand new so its not slow and its just a game drive

my main drive is fine and its not the drive usage its the internet trying to download stuff on steam

change your download region.

 

it doesnt *really* matter which, but i had most success with hong kong, tokyo and Nagoya. No, i dont live in asia, they still do have much better internet with less outtages.

 

just dont use like the nearest city, itll probably have the same issues, couple 100 miles away minimum.
