Need help with motherboard power connectors

Hello. I'm building a PC and I'm nearly done, but I can't reach a power cord to the smaller power connectors for the motherboard. I can only reach the 24-Pin large one. The other cords cannot reach the other power plugs.

I assume I have to plug them all in, but I'm not sure. My manual doesn't specify and I'm really not sure.

My motherboard is the Asus Rog Strix 570-E. I've attached the applicable page of my motherboard's manual.

Any help is very appreciated, and plesse pardon my inexperience with hardware.

You need to plug the EPS 12v connector as it provides power to the CPU.

You can purchase an EPS 12v extension which should resolve the short cords problem. It looks like this

8-Pin EPS Extension, 30 cm, Single Sleeve

The large 24 pin one is general motherboard power and is required.

The 8 pin and 4 pin connectors in the top left of the board are CPU power connectors. The 4 pin is generally not needed, only in the most exceptional power hungry CPU's (think something like a 5950X). The 8 pin CPU connector is definitely required.

In what way can you not reach the 8 pin CPU connector? Is the cable not long enough, or do you have trouble reaching the connector with your hand?

What PSU and case do you have?

You can buy 8 pin eps extension

Note that you don't go for the cheapest because it literally can cause fire

Something like this should be sufficient

https://www.amazon.com/XSPC-Premium-Sleeved-Extension-Cable/dp/B07FNS6DKD

Also don't confused eps with pcie

Because at first glance it looks like same but it actually different and if you do you can fried your components

Thanks, that's very helpful. Not sure if I need that 4-pin one for my Ryzen 7 3800X.

Here's the PC build.

To elaborate, the way that I cannot reach is the cable is not quite long enough.

Alright, I may have to look into those extensions, although those seem very long when I only need ~2 inches.

Luckily my pcie cables are differently colored so I can tell the pcie ones apart.

i actually found something at around 5 inch (if my quick maths are correct) but those have very thin looking wire

so i wouldnt recommend that

and maybe you actually can benefit from those extra length for tidier cable management

4 pin would not be needed, although your PSU does have the right cable (a 4+4 pin CPU and 8 pin CPU cable).

I can't find the length of the cable(s), but can the cable also not reach when plugged into one or the other CPU connector on the PSU?

Or maybe you can try running the cable some other way, if you have already tightly cable managed it away.

For example, often these cables are not long enough to be routed on the very edge of the PC case, meaning it need to diagonally cross from the PSU section to the top section of the case

I ordered an extension, so just waiting on that.

Thanks everyone for your time and help!
