Is this a good deal for a SECOND HAND PREBUILT?

Go to solution Solved by Phantom.X,

UPDATE: Found a better deal than this for a lower price, thanks for all the input !

So, due to parts availability, I've hit rock bottom and started looking for prebuilts on facebook market place, trying to get a good deal on lightly used, well specced systems.

I came across this two days ago, which seems to be a decent deal, but I wanted some outside opinions first.

The guy has owned the system for 2 months, it was built by a local PC shop, he hasn't used it in the last 2 weeks and boxed it up. He wants to sell it as he's not using it as much as he thought he would. He has the receipt for the pc and all the boxes for the parts.

From what I can gather, the specs of the machine are:

  • Asrock B450M AC
  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Gigabyte RTX 3070
  • ThermalTake 16GB (8GB x 2) 3600MHz RAM
  • 1TB SSD (NVMe)
  • 650W Cooler Master PSU
  • Arctic freezer 34 CPU cooler

The case is the Be Quiet! 500DX.

He wants £1,500 for the system, he is adamant that he won't take any lower than that. But, I want to ask for lower, what price should I try to get him down to? I was thinking £1,400 as he's pretty set on his price.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

That 1500 bongistani dollarydoos is a really good price for that system especially if it’s barely used.

Consider right now an RTX 3070 alone is going for 1200-1400$ USD.

I wouldn’t even haggle if they’re adamant on price, it’s a good price to begin with. If you’re gonna try and talk them down on price you’re risking losing any potential deal because if it was me and I said “price firm” and got a lower offer, I would just block their number because I wouldn’t sell to people who can’t read.

Tldr don’t even bother if you want the system because it’s priced well and you don’t want to risk him blocking you

Can you find out what he paid for it?  As in find it online somewhere?  May give you more leverage.

I don't see anything wrong with offering 1,400.  He can get pissy and tell you to F off.  But most likely he'd reiterate that he wants 1,500 and you'll have to make your decision then.

Just make sure you see it working, and that it has ALL the specs listed.  Check brands as well as models.  In case he swapped the 3070 out or something stupid.

Good luck.

Depends on whether you want to pay scalper prices.  The RTX 3070 alone pulls that price new.  The Ryzen 5600X is a decent chip as well.

So if you are willing to pay scalper prices, definitely, that's a good price.  In a normal market, that's the price of the system new.

EDIT: Forgot to translate to pounds.  Yes, translating that to US dollars results in the system costing $1000, which is a decent price in the states.  Still arguably scalper pricing, but it's in a middle ground.

When you go to look at it, just have him confirm with GPU-Z that it is a 3070. If it is, that's a good price.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

You got your Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, a lot of stans.

Bongistan is britan because of this lad:

Dollarydoos are the Australian dollar.

So GBP, good boy points or pounds or £ are bongistani dollarydoos

Kinda like how here in America our national currency is bugerbucks per cubic yard and Chuck E. Cheese tokens
