That's assuming you wanted one in the first place. The only reason to get a 3080 Ti is if you're just so desperate for a card right now, and that's all you can get your hands on. If it's in the hands of fate like any other card, you should be shooting for a 3080 or 3090 still.

 

The 3090 was already not that much better than a 3080; it just has a lot more VRAM if you need that for your workloads. The 3080 Ti is even less better than a 3080, but doesn't have enough extra VRAM to make it better even for those workloads.

I didn't say it was inferior. Though, when you consider price to performance, it actually is *vastly* inferior to the 3080. I said it was less better than a 3080 than the 3090 is. You're looking at maybe a 5-10% performance uplift over the 3080, in the best scenario, at 171% the cost. That's horrible.

And it is really more close to 5% overall games. Far from 10%

Nvidia have became scalpers by themselves.

 

Boycott the 3080 ti , it's a waste of $ , buy only if you give absolute no fuck about that 2K$ or whatever the price is in your country

 

I would like to get a rtx 3080 tho, at MSRP, I would buy right away !

OH I misunderstood you. MSRP is meaningless in this climate. Looking at what they are selling for on ebay, it looks like they underpriced it if anything.

I'm not going to get either a 3080 or a 3080 ti anyways.

I got one at msrp with Neweggs Shuffle. EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING.

It is not here yet so not pictures.

 

It is worth it to me since I need more than 10gbs vram but don't need 24gbs yet. I will still be getting 3090s but I am in no rush.

I don't think MSRP is meaningless but if I can't get cards at MSRP I will just do without. I did video editing as a part of my living in the early 90s so I am really good at doing without.

Well, that's apples and oranges too. You're comparing 3080 Ti MSRP with scalped 3080 prices. You can get 3080s at close to retail, if you're lucky enough to catch a drop, and the 3080 Ti will end up scalped roughly in proportion to how much the 3080/3090 is. In either scenario, retail-retail or scalped-scalped, the 3080 Ti is still a bad value, and not worth getting. If you're going to pay scalped prices, you'll still pay less for a 3080.

I wouldn't hate on anyone trying to bypass the mining limiter, because the limiter takes away features that were previously available. And I think the mining limiter is just a bunch of marketing to make the average gamer buying a GPU happy, even though mining limiters won't do much to help GPU supply.

I agree the MSRP is pointless if cards can't be bought at MSRP, and the AIB's are just going to jack up the prices anyway, some of the AIB 3080Ti models are up to $2000, which is close to or the same cost as a 3090.

The MSRP on the 3080 isn't even realistic anymore as the AIB's raised theirs to around $800 months ago, the only way the 3080Ti would make sense in price to performance is if it was closer to $800 rather than $1200 as in my opinion paying 70% more for a 3080Ti makes no sense at all unless you need the extra VRAM.

Prices are just ridiculous now, I see RTX 3060 going for a smidgen under the price I'd paid for my Nitro+ RX 6900 XT back in January. Don't need that RTX 3080 Ti, like wONKEyeYEs, I'm pretty happy with my RX 6900 XT as well.

I was one click away from a 3080 Ti for 1400 GBP. I already have a 6800 XT so decided against it. Funny thing is that more and more 3080s are coming on to the second hand market here (Japan) for lower prices. I wonder if this is the start of lower GPU prices all round? Or is it those people who bought a 3080 Ti and are now selling off their old cards?
