If you came here to see dirty pictures or text, you are mistaken, instead this thread is simply to talk about censorship.

I was talking with a friend the other day about this topic, and she thought it was unfair that guys could just walk around shirtless (not that she wants to, but that she cant if she wanted to) while girls couldnt.

So I actually did some research, and anatomically, there's no difference between the male & female chest, so why do we censor the female chest?

What are your thoughts on "NSFW" and censorship as a whole?

Ooo... Good question, I have an opinion.

Women's chests are viewed as sexual things, so they're hidden when it comes to societies who are want to hide sex.

Men's chests are also found attractive, but not in a very sexual way, so they're not hidden.

It all comes down to the way society perceives it, they see men's chests are non-sexual icons, and women's chests as sexual icons.

I don't mind girls walking around topless..

YES EQUALITY PLEASE So that will happen.

You may say that as a joke, but in the U.S. there are quite a few feminist equality groups that are fighting for just that.

I remember seeing a mini-documentary about a group of women protesting topless for the right to do it as they please. (They do so through peaceful topless protest)

It ties into taking away the idea of women as sexual objects. As OP stated anatomically the male and woman humans have the exact same chest area, it's just that the female have larger fat distribution in the chest.

We should either have a full uncensored chest are for all genders, or for men and women to cover up equally.

Interesting question. I think it wouldn't be accepted because of today's standards, but I think your friend is right; why sensor woman nipples and not men nipples?

While there is no anatomical difference between the chest of a male and a female, there is an connotative difference. Womens breasts are traditionally seen as a sexual object, while a mans chest isn't. Therefor womens breasts fall in the same category as genetalia, law wise. This is were all the feminists begin screaming "Objectification!".

I'm not arguing either way, but this sorta  explain why there is a difference.

I find the actual example being used silly.

You can argue whatever you want. If a man sees boobs, his brain is going to make him sexually aroused unless he is taught otherwise. They are a sex symbol for a reason.

Can we just skip this step and jump straight to completely nude society? I mean really. The arguments wouldn't be that different between boobs not being sexual and genitals not being sexual.

the difference between boobs & genitalia, is that one is actually used for sex, the other is used for nurture.

Obviously.

But that is irrelevant. Society has shown it completely lacks the ability to logically reason this stuff out.

Women's hips (depending on shape and size) are just as sexual as boobs are. "big butts and I cannot lie" and all that.

People are trying to draw a different line than what society has already drawn and I find it silly because both of them are arbitrary and dumb. Just stick with whatever is easiest to maintain. One isn't better than the other. They are all stupid.

If we want to use another silly example, Bikinis VS underwear. Why is one bad and the other good? It's just... so stupid.

Another way to say "Discussing something seriously, but it's basically pointless."

I gave you way too much credit. I take it back.

Genetically speaking, one of the traits that make a mate preferable is breast size, at least according to current literature.

I think people who see breasts more often, or are more comfortable with their sexuality, don't ogle them as much. E.g. oncologists, plastic surgeons, and anyone who's been in the BDSM scene.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use, and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo Galilei
