Broken quote on thread, possibly related to double post?

Browser, version and OS: Chrome OS 90, Chrome latest

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?

Looking at this thread

What happened?

I saw that @Mark Kaine had responded to the thread, but one of the quotes was broken - it's centered on the page and when "opened" it just creates empty space below it

What did you expect to happen?

I expected to see two fully functioning quotes

Any other relevant details:

Mark had accidentally double posted and removed the first post, but I don't know how this could have affected it

They probably just messed the quote itself.

It looks like the quote was partially deleted, but they missed a bit. The editor isn't supposed to let you do that, but it's basically impossible to debug like this.

I think i remember how i did this… "select" then "copy/paste" because thats sometimes the only way it lets me add a quote after I already made a post - it sometimes works, sometimes doesnt - it also doesnt let me delete something like this because theres no "cut" function in cases like this - I mean I said this before, adding quotes while editing is almost impossible on my browser (samsung) especially when the quote is on *another page*

I dont have this issue on other forums, not sure why, but I think quote should just add the quote into the post Im editing and not in a new post (which is what usually happens)

I can try recording it , if that helps, but its difficult because I usually only notice after the fact…

But this particular thing described in this thread barely ever happens afaik.

I don't think that's the problem here - the broken quote was present in the original copy of your post, and that topic only has one page.

If you edit a post, quotes should be inserted into that post (as long as that post is focused). Doing that across multiple pages doesn't make sense though, because the post editor isn't visible on the page so there's nowhere to put your post.

I think thats why it sometimes puts a quote into a new post instead? Because the one Im editing isnt focused.

I think one way around this, would be "multi quote" before editing a post, that should work across pages ?

Hmm, well I dont remember exactly, maybe i quoted it twice or something, and tried to delete it then? I just remember that this sometimes happened, hasnt since forever though iirc.

EDIT:  so yeah, pretty sure I tried to delete it, but only deleted the content - because  it doesn't let me delete the header of a quote, so thats how it happened, I guess. I also cant see this "partial quote" when I try to edit:

^no "cut" function and backspace / delete doesn't do anything  either (dont mind the japanese keyboard, this behaviour doesnt change with different keyboards)

Yeah it probably should, I'll look into that.
