intel 10 series pcie4 support ?

is it true they dont support pcie4?

Kind of bafling if so.

I wanted to get a 10700k, but if there is no pcie4 support  thats quite pointless, so whats the equivalent intel cpu with pcie4 support then, and whats a good motherboard for it?

Yep, 10th gen only supports PCIe 3.0. Closest relative to the 10700K but with PCIe 4.0 is just the 11700K.

I see, and what about 11500k?  Would that still be an upgrade over my 3600 ? (but yeah i would really prefer an 8core processor)

Are you planning to overclock?

If so, you will need a Z590 board. Although, the B560 boards do allow for memory overclocking now.

I see, thanks. Well i think i would want to overclock at some point, yeah, so z590 then.

Closest thing to an 11500K is the 11600K (ignoring the 11500 because Intel needs all the SKUs possible), but I feel it would end up being more of a side-grade as opposed to an actual upgrade.

I see, yeah, i agree.. actually found some benchmarks on guru3D that seem relevant (I usually dont have that luck) with a 2080ti (which is basically a 3070 afaik) and they're getting exactly the same frames than i do (with a 3600) and yeap, its about 10fps more with the 11600k , which on cpu terms might be an upgrade, but not great...

Looks i have to wait for good deals for a 11700k, which afaik would be a pretty good upgrade.

Or what do you think about 11700 non k? No overclocking, but its quite a bit cheaper and motherboards probably too.

Also for context, not that it matters much, Im not really looking for an upgrade, rather just a new CPU because  ill use my 3600 for a second PC (with a gtx 1060) for streaming, so I just want the new CPU be an upgrade to use with my 3070 nonetheless, also in terms of pcie4  and rebar and all that stuff (as my current ryzen mobo doesnt support pcie4)

Yeah that sounds reasonable enough to me. Hell if you wanted to be even more of a scrooge you could pick up the iGPU-less 11700F which is a whopping $15 USD less. Still don't understand the point of that chip when it's barely even cheaper than the full-fat sibling.

No, but it doesn't really make a difference right now unless you need high speed storage.

What do you have right now? I seem to recall you having a relatively competent computer as it is.

So 11700 would be a good upgrade and a B560 board then?

I mean overclocking would be nice but I really have to check what the overall cost is…

And yeah, but I want an igpu for stuff like "quick sync"

Yes, but Im building a second PC with mostly parts I already have, also mobo doesnt support pcie4 so it cant do resizable bar for example

Current:

R5 3600

B350M

16GB

3070

RMI650

New (secondary):

R5 3600

B350M

8GB

1060

bequiet 500w

New (main):

11700(?)

B560/z590(?)

16GB (i hope my existing DDR4 RAM is compatible??)

3070

RMI650

So I really just need a CPU/mobo

Only problem thats more expensive than Id like and actually a k version  would be probably better. 🤔

resizable BAR isn't all its cracked up to be; also on intel and nvidia systems pcie4 isn't necessary to have it enabled.

It was added to many Z370-Z390 systems later.

I personally couldn't see myself spending at least $500 on a jump from a 3600 to a 11700, but since you plan on making the 3600 more of a side system it makes a little more sense.

Yeah, i mean im just checking out my options and Id like to try out intel chips too (my last was a first gen Pentium! lol)

I could also: buy a 550 board for that pcie4 goodness and memory overclocking.

And build another PC with my 2200g + 1060, old motherboard, 8GB RAM, all Id need to buy is a ~60$ case...

But, idk if that makes sense as a "straming rig"?  (of course Id need a capture card too)  🤔

Next option is to wait for Alderlake + DDR5 goodness! 🤷‍♀️
