I got a 500GB usb 3 ssd for £17 odd and a 2TB usb 3 ssd for £23 odd. are they real? 

Why they only extfat so no good for rpi but seem to work.

Those seem fake. Too cheap, no brand name.

 

 

 

Id test the drive with a program like f3, good chance its a cheap flash drive that has been faked to show up as 500gb

2TB SSD for £17 seems like a definite scam. 
Especially when they're ripping off the Samsung T5 design and have an inner cardboard that mentions 500GB.

 

It's very likely a smaller drive (say 16GB) that has fake firmware on it that will report as 2TB.

Writing more than the amount it can actually hold, will corrupt that data.

2TB SSD for £23 is definitely fake. The NAND alone would cost more than that.

Those are completely fake. It's not a case where they might be fake; they ARE fake. You can't buy that much flash storage for that cheap. Please do not store any data on those drives that you care about. They're likely only a few GB in size (maybe 16), and if you put more than that on it you'll lose the data.
