YES!!!!!!

It can do everything, and will really make you a poweruser. Also, no more wimdows payment/piracy or crApple's expensive hardware.

You don't even need to learn linux. You can very well just put ubuntu and be done with it.

If you want to learn linux, this is what to do:

1. Install Ubuntu and play around with it for 3-4 weeks. Learn the basic commands like cd, ls, apt, wget, tar etc

2. Install Debian using the netinstaller or Arch linux by using arcolinux. Learn  how to use make and other tools like bash scripting

3. Install Arch linux by the command line an put in a gui

4. Compile your own kernel

Id say if you want to learn it , my advice would be to avoid the community for a long time and let the os itself speak for and tech you itself. Do as much as you possibly can without involving the community for help.

The community is made up of about 5% wendells and anthonys which is amazing...... and about 95% extremely unfavorable people which can be very discouraging. Its the only thing that kept me from learning it.

Linux distros are in a way like Windows, except much more flexible in the sense that you basically have control over everything, distros 99% of the time if not 100% are also much lighter since there usually is very little to no telemetry crap or extra applications that run in the background.

If you want to learn Linux, just switch to a Linux distro as your main OS and try to customize and modify a distro to your liking to start with.

That stopped being a problem for me at least since you can now buy Windows keys for as little as $5.  Their legitimacy is a gray area.

But in the many years I've been using them, I've never encountered any problems.

If one skips lunch, you should have the money to buy a license for a Windows OS.

or just get it for free and don't activate it, but that's besides the point.

What I like about Linux is the ease of switching hardware.  I pulled out my Ubuntu OS hard drive out of an old PC and put it into a more powerful system.  From AMD to Intel to be exact.  The computer booted and the OS took an extra minute or two to boot up.  After booting up, it's like as if nothing happened.  All the cores were recognized, ram, nic... like nothing happened.  Didn't have to mess with OS licensing or anything.

I'm ODC and I can't stand seeing the watermark.  I used to have a powershell script running to get rid of it but it would find ways to show it's ugly face.

For $5 really, it's no big deal at all.

Someone mentioned above about the personalities of Linux admins.  They're right.  I work with a couple of them.  2/3 of them are gigantic but holes.  They look down on everyone else and give you an attitude when you need them to fix something.  The other 1/3 are sweethearts.  Will walk you thru from beginning to end.

What I advice is to just set a device up with it and try to just use it as a daily driver. Then go from there. You'll want to do x and to make x possible you need to do A Y E Z and B first. Then when you finally get it working you'll have that moment of oh hey I learned some cool stuff and be able to blaze through it next time.
