Where should I go for servers?

I am trying to make a small homelab and I don't know where I could get good servers for a fair price. I am currently taking suggestions and yes I do have fast wifi, gigabit connection and I do for some reason (I impulse shop) have 2 10 gigabit switches. Working on a redundant power supply.

At least around here, people give away rackmount older servers on CraigsList for free.

the first question is what are you intending to run on this server and what will the general purpose of the server be?

 

the best server is always the one that fits your use case and budget.
