Google wants to delete my account because I'm not old enough

Hello everyone,

A few days ago I tried to verify my age, which is under 16, so they told my I needed to change it with proof to an age over 16.

I did that, they accepted the proof and my age changed to 2003 which is old enough. So it should have been fine but just know I recieved an e-mail that my account will be deleted in 12 days. What should I do?

Greetings,

Thomas

You're not old enough, you shouldn't have the account. Period. Nuisance, sure, but there's a reason: accountability. Unless you get approval from a parent or legal guardian, make sure you update your contacts with new info (new non-Google account) before the expiry date.

I have no idea how to get them to not delete your account, but you should probably get an email - address elsewhere, like e.g. outlook.com , and then move all of your online - accounts to use that instead -- if you have e.g. a Steam - account, change it over to the new email - address.

Well my mom does approve of it, but how can I let google know this?

You're not old enough to have the account though, as ridiculous as it is, you probably can't fight this. Google won't care if your mum approves or not.

It is about their liability, and not your lack of approval.

Download your contacts, your calendar, anything stored on your Google Drive, etc., then set up a new email address elsewhere.

How did Google find out you were 12?

I tried to verify my account and put in 2005, since I thought the legal age here was 13 but it is 16. That is how they got notified of it

You'll have to basically migrate everything to a new email, oof. Try to do that in the twelve days you have.

...even if it was 13, you'd still be under that

Yeah, as others have said, export everything, forward every email you care about to a new account from a provider that allows 12-year-olds to sign up, and go from there. Your Google account is toast. Time to move on.

It is 2021 not 2018 though so I'm 15 but that doesn't really matter, it's underage anyway.

Thanks for the advice though
