H100i Idle 40C - 3700X Idle 4.2GHz

Specs:

MSI MPG x570 Gaming Edge WiFi

3700x

H100i Corsair Platinum

 

Have already updated chipset drivers, bios, power plan set to AMD Balanced/PowerSave mode, and AMD Cool n quiet enabled. Have already reapplied thermal paste/reseated CPU. 
 

This only just recently happened the last couple months, I don’t know what the cause is. Activity monitor shows CPU at 4.2GHz always, Ryzen master shows it consistently jumping between 3-4.2GHz.

Is this a problem? Ryzen runs kinda hot even at idle i think... dunno the pc shop i got my pc from are intel shills and constantly rant on amd cpus and gpus

I don't think they run any hotter than an Intel would, maybe even cooler.. depends on who you talk to and how much air they can move
