GPU Cleaning tips and tricks

8tg

I was cleaning some 270x's today and wanted to share my key tool that a lot of people overlook.

These were incredibly dirty cards and ive got more pictures of before and after if anyone wants to see but i want to keep this post short and simple.

The best tool for doing this type of detailing is a cheap set of makeup brushes. I got mine at dollar general, theyre gentle, fine haired, and have a lot of size variants for different applications from digging around surface mount components to just brushing off the entire backplate surface.

These make cleaning these fine surfaces super easy, instead of gently rubbing across them with a washcloth and alcohol or a paper towel and leaving behind residue. You dont even need alcohol for this unless youre cleaning off something super sticky.

What are your personal tools you use for cleaning?

I use 3000PSI pressure washer, it cleans the diodes, resistors and capacitors right off the PCB.

JK,

I too use brushes for cleaning, usually for getting the nooks and crannies on my radio controlled stuff, also great for cleaning heat sinks and fans.
