Need to switch some parts for better parts + switch to AMD or stay with INTEL

patkn

Budget (including currency): not set yet but nothing too expensive  (probably not more than 500 Euro)

Country: Slovakia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: games like elder scrolls online, 7 days to die and games like these or some simulation sandbox games like people playground + some basic programs like discord, spotify, messenger, word, power point, excel, chrome, etc.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

What i have:

- cpu: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 cores and 4 virtual cores)

- gpu: Radeon RX 5500 XT  (from powercolor)

- power supply: GIGABYTE P750GM

- motherboard: GYGABYTE GA-Z77X-D3H

- ram: 16 GB DDR3 (speed: 1330 MHz)

- cooling: air cooling

- case: some random cheap case

What i would need to switch:

- cpu: i would like to switch it becouse in some games or while multitasking its just not enough + i dont know if i should stay with INTEL or switch to AMD becouse i multitasking while gaming and also some school (i hope someone will be able to help me with that)

- motherboard: since i would like to switch to newer cpu i would also need better motherboard + its kind of old and some usb devices i plug in start to behave kinda weird (those usb devices are completly fine);

OPTIONAL - i would like to put some rgb strips and some more fans than 1

- ram: when ill have better motherboard ill probably need DDR4 ram it doesnt have to be anything crazy just something that would work just fine (16 GB i think is enough for most of the stuff)

About the budget... i could maybe invest in some better parts but i dont want to spend TOO MUCH just something reasonable so ill have parts that would be good with the rest of my parts i own rn.

I would like to buy most of it new mostly from site: https://www.alza.sk/  I know most of you wont understand but you can search through the search bar. But if you dont want to look into it too deep it would be just enough to name me the parts and ill look it up.

I hope ill find someone nice who will help me with this. Thanks everyone for your answer 🙂

How much in Euros would you like to spend? "Nothing too expensive" for you could be like 3000(you might be made of money), but for me it could be 200 Euro.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Here's an Intel and an AMD build. Neither of these CPUs will have integrated graphics. They'll be pretty much blow for blow on performance, but with that 3200mhz ram the Intel will be slightly faster most of the time. The video below is a really good comparison of the two.

If you wanted to go AMD

PCPartPicker Part List
Type Item Price
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor €190.00 @ Alza
Motherboard Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II ATX AM4 Motherboard €110.90 @ Alza
Memory G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory €122.39 @ Alza
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
  Total €423.29

If you wanted to stay Intel

PCPartPicker Part List
Type Item Price
CPU Intel Core i5-10400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor €148.90 @ Alza
Motherboard MSI Z490-A PRO ATX LGA1200 Motherboard €162.90 @ Alza
Memory G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory €122.39 @ Alza

You could also get both of these down to 400 Euro or slightly below if you went with a set of RAM like these

Some people have had bad luck with Corsair LPX. More so with AMD, but it's all I've ever used and not ran into issues with it. They'll XMP well, but usually don't go past that very well.

thanks for your help but i wanted to ask something about the intel cpu... i see it have 6 cores but the speed is 2,90 GHz which is lower than 3,20 GHz i have rn. I noticed that it can be maxed out at 4,30 GHz with automatic overclocking could you please explain it to me how does this work? becouse if im correct its locked cpu isnt it?

You have to look at the boost speed. i5-3470 has a boostclock of 3,6 GHz, i5-11400 has a boostclock of 4,4 GHz. Also the IPC of 11400 is higher, about 40%. Singlecore performance of a i5-11400 is 60% higher than i5-3470. Multicore it's about 300%

there is a new kid on the block called 11400F and new B560 chipset, it offer memory overclocking that desired for 11400F, while also have Modern IO

the review already out, basically faster on multicore and single core than previous 10400F and 3600 while still behind 5600x, which is expected for such price

thanks for letting me know i did some research on the parts and i found out about that i5-11400F on userbench mark when i wanted to compare my current cpu and the 10400F but for now the cpu isnt available in the shop but its fine since i just wanted to know how much it would cost me and which parts ill need cuz i dont have the money yet but ill save up :).

Also about the motherboard... the one you mentioned looks better than @IkeaGnometold me about, except its micro atx i would like atx but with probably as many usb as the Gigabyte B560M AORUS PRO Micro ATX LGA1200 Motherboard and also with pcie 4.0 too... i hope there is something similliar to it but atx, becouse rn i have 6 usb used almost nonstop and i hope there will be some with usb 3.0 if those kind of motherboards are too expensive then ill probably look into something else
