Valve Index rear cradle adapter?

Hey, just wanted to ask those who own a Valve Index, what is this rear cradle adapter? Been talking with Valve support because my Index got two dead pixels and they've mentioned that when I ship it to them I don't need to include this but I have no idea what it is.

 

Could someone enlighten me and maybe send a picture of it? I've tried looking online but all I've found was people mentioning it being helpful for comfort but got no images or anything.

OH! I feel like such an idiot... I've been using that to cover up the lenses when I wasn't using the headset this whole time. I thought that was it's function, thanks for reply.
