So maybe this is kinda off topic. But i just wanted a place to let fly my frustrations a bit. And i thought one or two of you might also need to.

Anyway..

I had followed the 30xx series news since launch, i had bought all of my PC components over the last few months, buying one or two components a month and gradually building a system with what i had leftover from my paycheck.

I bought my CPU before the release of the 5000 series AMD so i was allready bummed that i had invested in a Intel CPU and motherboard.

And when i heard the news of a new GPU series from nvidia comming, i was determined to make the right choices there.

So scroll down to 2 months later, september 17, 3080 launch in Norway. I had saved my money for the last few months in order to get the card of my dreams. I had my eyes on the Asus TUF 3080 OC.. I was ready..

I was at work when the sale started at 15:00 that day. I had a meeting at work, but i had made an excuse to go, so that i could be ready to go, 15 minutes before the card dropped. I was delayed tho.. The meeting holder wouldn't let me go without me giving my presentation over the latest stats for my department....... I have never spoken that fast in my life.. I was like Eminem in Rap god..
I made it out of the meeting, with 2 minutes to go.. Before the meeting, i had prepared, my credit card info was saved and i was waiting at the page.

To my horror, when i got to the buy page of Norways biggest tech retailer (komplett) They had (by mistake) opened the sale, 15 minutes before 15:00..

So by the time the sale was supposed to start, i was already to late.

I was able to add the card to my cart and pay. But then.. The site crashed, due to trafic.

When it came back on, it did not show that i had gotten a card, but the money from my card was gone.

I tried calling support, but after finding out i was number 141 in the support que, i decided it was not worth my blood-pressure to keep going.

Anyway.. Here i am now.. Some months later. My sale was approved on sept 17.. And my card is expected to be delivered.. June 03.. But lets be honest, they don't know.. Thats just a date they put there in order to make the buyers shut up.

So i just neded to rant a bit.. And sorry for the partly broken english in this, i got a bit flustered re-living this and keyboard mashing might have occured.

TLDR;

Spent alot of time and made preperation to buy 3080, bought it on sept 17 (2020), expected delivery jun 03 (2021)

you're in for a long wait, potentially, manufacturers probably fulfill orders from the highest price first

people are paying $2000 for 3080, so unless the wait for gaming is worth $1300 over MSRP (it's probably not, but who knows what you think gaming is worth), waiting is the best option, unless if you can recoup the cost of it within that time

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

That sucks, reminds me of the time on christmas last year when you couldn't buy stuff on the Nintendo eShop because of so many people.
