Entire thread shows up in the reply box

WhitetailAni

Browser, version and OS: Chrome OS latest

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?

1. I went to eat breakfast

2. I came back to see @wkdpaul commented on a thread that I had open that was reposted in GD

3. I noticed that it didn't say "This topic is now closed to further replies" so I decided to test to see

4. I typed "test" in the reply box

What happened?

What did you expect to happen?

The entire thread to not show up in the reply box, and it to deny my attempted reply (it has happened before)

Any other relevant details:

The image is 4 screenshots that I cropped and put one after another.
That's why there's some slight misalignment.

EDIT:
I can interface with the stuff in the reply box, like selecting the forum thread embed, I can click on the quote and go to that post.

Also, once I reloaded it went away.

I'm guessing you had the thread opened, had the notification for my reply and clicked to show it, but it didn't update the lock status of the thread.

It's probably not going to be a problem that's encountered often.

No, I had the thread open, it said that you locked it, but the reply box was still open.

I wanted to see if you had forgotten or not, so I typed "test" into the box and then that happened.

ah, it's possible that I locked it after my message, though I usually do it first but I've forgotten a few times, so ...

EDIT  ; just checked the logs, I locked the thread 2 minutes prior to my reply.

this happens if the thread is locked while you're browsing

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Yeah the forum doesn't dynamically update the fact that the topic is locked, but it makes a request to the same URL to load the uploader. If the topic is now locked, that request will end up returning the topic rather than the uploader, because of a quirk of how this code works. There's not really anything we can do to prevent it.
