Suggestions on replacing a LEPA MaxBron?

I'm also curious what causes the discrepancy between the two numbers. Why does Sapphire recommend an 850W PSU?

Because they do not know what you will be pairing the GPU with so they're basically accounting for cpu's with a higher consumption like a 5950x or 10900k that consume significantly more power than your 5600x. If you're looking for

If you're looking for a RGB power supply specifically the CX750F RGB from Corsair is a good choice and it looks fairly priced and comes in black or white

Thanks to that PSU Tier List form I've learned that the 1000W B1000M Lepa Maxbron powering my system isn't exactly safe to use. My trusty MaxBron hasn't given me a single issue in it's 5 years of service, but I'm still looking to replace the PSU in my system with a safer, more robust option and would appreciate some advice/recommendations. I know I need to change the PSU, but I've got a fresh case of choice paralysis...

My case (P3 Core) has an open design with no PSU shroud, so I'd prefer an RGB PSU option if available, but quality & reliability come first.

My specs

CPU: 5600X

GPU: Sapphire 6800 XT Nitro SE

16GB x 2 RAM, 2+1TB in storage, LED strips, etc

I want additional headroom for OC'ing things, as well as the NVMe drives, AIO CPU cooler, etc that I'll be adding to my build eventually

Lastly... the mfg suggests a minimum 850W PSU, but the calculators I've used suggest a 650W supply would fine. Additionally there's threads like this: How many watts would I need for a 5600x and rx 6800xt system? - Power Supplies - Linus Tech Tips that suggest that my particular CPU/GPU combo isn't exactly thirsty for watts.

I'm also curious what causes the discrepancy between the two numbers. Why does Sapphire recommend an 850W PSU?

Thanks,

This makes sense. I considered the 5800X but in all honesty 6 cores is plenty. I'm not doing much rendering or encoding here after all, and all the evidence suggests there isn't much (any) to be gained by using the bigger Ryzen chips for gaming.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is the one I was considering as well, in large part because it still managed a "B" on the tier list and it's cheaper than the alternatives:

My only concern was that the Corsair PSU didn't come in 850W, but if I can confirm that I don't need that much power, my choice gets much clearer.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've been running it for about a week with no issues. Here's how it looks in my build:
