Original post
Hi there all
Hoping for a little help if possible as this error is driving me wild

my set up is -
Ryzen 5 3600x
MSI X470 Gaming pro max
16gb dual channel amd tuned corsair vengence 3600mhz ram
240gb Kingston SA400m8240G
AMD Radeon 5600xt red devil
Artic blue 850wt PSU

so sometimes i can game for around 20 mins and recieve this error and somtimes i can game for about 8 hours before i receive it
the real annoying part is i stream on twitch and so if im streaming and this happens it crashes my stream and i have to reboot my pc which loses me my viewers who dropped in the regulars know that this i aa issue i have been having for a while

now to the steps i have tried so far -

-Reseating the GPU
-Cleaning the GPU (it was spotless)
-reseating the RAM
-using AMD cleanup utility and removing all traces of drivers and reinstalling them
-Switching the GPU to silent mode instead of OC
-Using the standard preset instead of gaming when installing (one guide said that helps it didnt)
-tried a fresh install of windows
-tried older driver versions
-Made sure the case has enough cooling

those are why i can remember doing have probably done more but at this point i not sure if i have to RMA the card of if its me just missing something
Any help would be amazing thanks all

oh and Linus & Anthony you guys are awesome on the off chance you see this 🙂

I'm assuming your in the newest windows version (20h2)?

What are gpu and CPU temps like? (Use hwinfo64 to test this)

you should run it in sensor only mode, and scroll down to the gpu area, and chech the temps.

No im not overclocking i do have game boost enable at the moment but it did it while disabled too

One thing i have just noticed is since updating my bios it disabled my XMP to i have just re-enabled XMP in bios
first picture is before xmp
second is with xmp enabled just incase that helps

Really suck because i like like amd but this issue is losing my faith in them

just as a added note in my fathers build he has a rx580 red devil (golden sample) and he has 0 issues like this which is why i chose the 5600xt red devil because it seemed the best bang for buck 1080p gaming card

🤔Well, it does appear that you are overclocking your CPU at 4.2 ghz. It might be crashing because your CPU's clock speed and voltages are unstable. 🤷‍♂️

yeah thats just the gameboost setting thats like a default overclock i havnt manually overclocked it myself

Would you reccomend i disable that?
because i have tried it with gameboost enabled and disabled and still same AMD error so i figured why not have it on if its getting an error with it on or off lol

p.s @BlackManINC i notice you have the 5700 when i used toogle to find a solution i noticed there seems to be more people with the error on the 5700, im guessing you havnt come across this error?

🤔 It can't hurt to try, but I'm sure it won't work if it still crashed when it wasn't overclocking. Have you tried testing your ram with memtest86? What apps are you running in the background? Are you running anti-virus programs like Bit Defender?

Ok, and after a while of PC use, I would check the 'resource monitor' screen just to make sure your ram isn't getting choked out by 'standby memory'. It's likely not the issue, but it can't hurt to check it at this point.

🤔 So have you checked resource monitor for standby memory? And I'm starting to think your GPU might be defective. You can try stress testing it using programs like 3D Mark. If it doesn't crash, then it should be fine.

yeah in resource monitor i have 11gb of stanby memory that with a few things open so its seems pretty normal on that front

i just updated the Vbios on the GPU to see if its more stable and see if that helps
