Am I having ASD?

So, to summarised, I have below symptoms:

- Lacks of mutual sharing of interests: My interests and other normal people are very different, it is as if I came from another world. I found it hard to integrate to my peers because of that.

- Poor understanding of others: I sometimes do have difficulty understand what other people mean.

- Poor Eye Contacts: I usually don't look people in the eye when I talked to them

- Poor understanding of other's facial expression: I'm insensitive to them and mostly unaware. It also doesn't help that I had hard time remembering faces

- Poor understanding of body language: Nope, that one really fly off my radar

- Unusual speech: Some do have trouble figuring out what I want to say sometimes

- Poor pragmatic communication: I do notice that I'm not good at keeping the conversation going, though no one complains about that yet.

- Language impairment: I didn't speak until I was 3 and a half years old. I don't think I have this issues now.

- Mono-tropism: Often when I'm alone.

- Stereotyped behaviours: I have a tendency to make things spin for unknown reasons. I remember when fidget spinner came out, I spin it almost all the time until my parents hid it away from me

- Resistance to change: I really hate some unexpected things happened to my routine. Transitioning to new environment, the sudden change of normal routines (such as the recent pandemic) really makes me anxious and uncomfortable

- Restricted interest: Many noted that I love to see spinning things when I was young. One care-taker noted I stare the pendulum of a wall clock for hours, and I laugh a loud when the pin-wheel is spinning.

- Sensory Processing Disorder: Many note that I have 'thin skin'. I'm more susceptible to pain than normal children.

- Over sensitivity: I don't like loud noise.

- Self-injury: I do exhibit traits of suicidal act (tying a belt at my throat to simulate hanging) at one point, though this may be because I'm stressed out.

- Self isolation: Many teachers do note I used to play alone when I was young, and rarely mixed with other classmates.

 

I came to aware that I may have autism or ASD when I'm in college, as one of the medical lecturer noted I exhibit symptoms of autism, but I haven't go to professionals to get a diagnose. That was like 15 years ago. Should I go have myself diagnose? Am I really an autism child from the beginning?

Yes. You should speak to someone who specialises in diagnosing autism in adults.

@Chiyawa Not everyone exhibits the same level of autism.
