I suppose to research if the games for XBOX have renewed copy rights would be a wise idea. Renewed? Copyright lasts for 70 years. Quote United States[edit] The Copyright Act of 1976, codified at 17 U.S.C. § 102[8] enumerates the requirements of a copyright in the US, but does not use the term. For a work to be copyrightable under the Copyright Act it must meet the threshold of originality, be fixed in a medium (whether analog or digital) and the work must be perceivable and reproducible.[9] Regarding copyrights for video games, the US Copyright office has stated that "a single registration may be made for a computer program and its screen displays...(and) when answering the 'Type of work being registered' question on the application form, the copyright holder shall choose the type most appropriate to the predominant authorship."[6] In other words, US Law does not specify a certain protection to be given to a game. The individual(s) registering the game, or their attorneys, must ascertain which category best protect the interests of the author https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_of_video_games Or something like that. In other words a video game is not a book. It's software. Much of which is open source. ()or can become open source **Drops copy rights** Much like game engine. It's open source. The copy right depends on what they want to buy into. So no. Games don't have 75 year copy rights.
 Posted March 4, 2021 And I voted for Combat evolved. Because EVERYONE had purchased it if you had an original xbox. And I cannot remember, but I think xbox was sold with Halo CE..... I dunno. Was a long time ago. I certainly don't have a reciept for my purchase any more I cannot prove I once had an original xbox. And it doesn't scare me to DL the damn game and play it though. A video game would be classed as a work of art. Copyright applies for 70 years after the authors death, 95 years after publication or 120 years after creation, which ever comes first.
