Yet another PC from used parts. Will give to my sister for school.

So long story short my little sister needed help for her PC. She did not have a lot of money but he needed a PC for school since her old 2010 ish laptop pretty much died.

I promised her that I can build her a pc fairly cheap. She only plays minecraft with her Xbox 360 so this is not a "Gaming" pc so some of my parts will seems like a odd choice.

I am usually pretty patient. I replaced thermalpaste and factory installed windows 7 to her laptop so it could run a little longer.

It took me a month to find parts this cheap. most of them had something broken.

 

Specs then pics:

 

First of all the psu. This is a  bomb indeed but it works and got it for 15 euro including the case later:

Chieftec GPA-350S.

This psu is not 250w but only true 300w psu on the 12V rail. Also seems like old group regulated unit. It works with the specs and it was cheap.

Cables. with whopping no pcie power. only 4pin cpu power. 1 sata and 1 molex power cable. Yeah that is bad.

Ryzen 5 3400G

Overkill cpu for school but I got it for 60€ since it had bent pins. I bent them back with my credit card lol.

 

Case:

Aerocool CS-1103.

This and psu were only 15 euro. The case was new, the box was never opened.

Front of the case. No vent holes, only one DVD bay. That’s it.

Top of the case. Also, no ventholes. Front IO features 1x usb 3 and 2x usb 2s. Front audio, start and reset of course.

Psu is mounted on the top of the case which is normally not ideal. Also, the case fits 92mm fan on the back but Aerocool decided to only include one 80mm fan.

There are two main intake mounts on this case. 1x 120mm on the side and 1x 80mm on the bottom. That is still not good since the case only has 1x80mm exhaust so the airflow and dust build up will be horrific.

Quick look inside. At least the front panel cables were long enough to route from the back. That is nice to see. Drive cage is placed oddly never seen that there. 

 

So now we get to the ram, cooler and the motherboard.

The cooler is Artic Freezer 13 from my dad so it was free. Decent cooler with 4 heat pipes and pretty big aluminum heatsink. Loud 92mm fan. 

Also The ram is in the second slot for testing.  more on that later. 

The ram is 1x8gb of 2666mhz ram. That is not ideal for such cpu, but again not a gaming pc so no worries. Got this from my old pc so it was free. 

The motherboard is Gigabyte S2H that I got for 25€. The seller said that the USB 3 pins were bent and the first ram slot did not work. Well I bent the USB 3 pins back and the USB 3 worked. Also the first ram slot worked too? IT did run well. I asked the seller and he had 1x16 gig of 3200mhz ram on it before so that might have been the problem then.

HDD. 

Now this was used and I got it for 10€. It has been used for 3 years according to CrystalDiskInfo. It is actually very slow but it works, so yeah, will have to upgrade to an SSD later.

Mounted everything in to the case. Managed cables. Could have been better but you will see soon that this case has horrific cable management.

As you can see this is the best I could do. That case has horrific cable management. Like there is no room for the back panel to work. IT took me 15 minutes to jamm that back panel with all the cables in.

It worked! It took me like 30-40minutes to build this without calculating the backpanel mess. 

Anyway conclusion:
