EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA Sag Question

Apollyon2020

I'm sure 'GPU sag' has been brought up many many times. If so, I apologize if many of you will just repeat yourself. My question is, does the card itself need to be completely level? I do have a GPU support bracket installed. The thing is, I don't know how durable the PCB is that plugs into the PCI-E slot. How durable is it? I was literally worried about lifting the card too much so the support bracket can do it's thing. When the card was installed, there was some sag, that's for sure. Now, it's far better. Not completely level I don't think, but it looks straight. I was lifting the card as much as it can go. Well, until I wasn't able to lift the card anymore without a lot of force and at that point I'll be breaking it I'm sure lol. This 3090 is heavy as hell, it sags way more than my 2080 I had prior.

Generally speaking card sag is more of an esthetic issue than a safety issue. You would have to have some pretty serious sag in order to damage the components. If its relatively level then I would simply call it a day as that's about the most you can ask for anyways.

Alright. So what about the PCB itself where it connects to the PCI-E slot? Is that durable? Like I mean do I literally need to put a lot of weight on the card to snap the thing? Basically when I was lifting the card, I was lifting it until I felt a wall. Where I wasn't able to lift anymore without using excess force.

I wouldn't be too worried about it if you have a bracket installed, you would have to apply a lot of pressure to take the pcie slot of the pcb. There's always going to be a tiny bit of sag even with a bracket. I see people putting in those pop figures to keep it completely level so if your still concerned you could do something like that.

The inti sag bracket that comes with the card is designed for system integrators according to the EVGA Product Manager so I would get an after market bracket it bothers you.

Let me take a picture of my GPU bracket and show you guys. It's alright. It's made out of acrylic. Bought it from V1 Tech. I should of got something more stronger, but ah well.

Only issues with my card is how the fan cover is designed. The GPU support bracket sometimes slips off where it's currently positioned. Sort of slides towards the 3rd fan because of the dip in the fan cover to the card. Slightly annoying, but what can I do? lol

I believe jay2cent has a video on how to lessen sag.

It involves adding a screw on the otherside of your pc case.

Might be worth a watch, otherwise nothing unusual going on here except seeing someone with a 3000 series rtx card
