SSD Brands changing controller after some time

Go to solution Solved by minibois,

Two specific examples I can think of is ADATA with the SX8200: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/adata-xpg-sx8200-pro-controller-change

And Kingston years ago with the V300 SSD (switching to slower memory): https://www.anandtech.com/show/7763/an-update-to-kingston-ssdnow-v300-a-switch-to-slower-micron-nand

I don't know if Micron/Crucial or really anyone else has pulled a stunt like this.

Hi! Some months ago, during a WAN Show Linus said there are some SSD brands that change their controllers with cheaper ones, once the product has been launched.

Do you know what are those brands? He said Samsung is not one of them. I was thinking to buy a 2TB Crucial MX500, does Micron do this kind of tricks?

Thanks!
