No app is going to let you download songs completely free. There are apps that will let you listen to whatever song you want for free (with ads), but to download you have to pay. Or just buy the individual songs you want from something like itunes.

There's plenty of sources for royalty-free music out there, like e.g. https://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/2 -- just google for "royalty free music."

Yes, but that's not what you said. Royalty-free music is obviously royalty-free, but downloading random songs from Youtube doesn't make them royalty-free.

Okay, that's not how any of this works. Soundcloud uploads are usually copyrighted by the original artists. I'm on records that have been uploaded to soundcloud, and you can be sure that while they're available for streaming, they're not royalty free music and subject to lawsuits in the event of unauthorized commercial use.

 

Converting a song from YouTube to MP3 doesn't erase its copyright. And I would not recommend taking some YouTuber's word for an uploaded song being 'Royalty Free'.

You can have "the weirdest thing you ever heard" too if you want.

It'll take a bit to get, though - I currently only have it in .band form and I'll need to boot up my Mac Mini, open Garageband, export the project as an .mp3, and send it back.

Copyright =/= royalties. Artist will still have copyright for their work while they can grant permission to use without extra payments. Or they can give you full access to their work, without need to credit them, with single payment.

 

I've bought some royalty-free music. Which means I have gigabytes of files, of which I have paid once and can use as long as artist is credited.
