Do old CPUs have higher overclocking potential?

Hi,

I was reading an article, when I realised that the man said that you could overlock a 1.8ghz core 2 duo to 3ghz and beyond. Is this actually true? I have this old Sony vaio vgn cr290 aptop with an intel core 2 duo t7500 and hoping i could overclock it.

Thanks,

me

Ya that old laptop is not going to overclock.

It is quite possible.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

Overclocking requires adequate cooling and power delivery, both of which are typically lacking in a mobile PC. They are usually optimized for low power/battery life, not performance. So if the notebook is running hot already, overclocking it is definitely not going to improve things.
