Since the launch of the Oculus Kickstarter, we’ve been focused on building the best virtual reality platform. The original development kit was a strong starting point that showed the world a glimpse of presence, but its shortcomings prevented it from delivering great VR.

Almost exactly one year after shipping the original dev kit, we’re pleased to announce DK2, the second development kit for the Oculus Rift!"

So basically what everyone has expected is here for dev kit 2.

pre-order for 350$ is available now.

shipping in june/july (around four months)

I recommend watching the video and reading the site, it's rather interesting, & I'm exhausted to my news post is rather meh

Based On Current Progress & Information, My Speculation

Consumer Release Date: Winter 2015

I'll probably buy it after it's released based on impressions, I'd just play with it. No idea how to do any kind of dev work lol

Thanks for your great addition to this topic. Also thanks for feeling it necessary to try and correct someone. Why is it on 60% of the threads there is someone who only comes in to say "already posted." without even contributing to the thread? Instead next time you feel the urge to be the junior C.O. go watch some more Netflix anime and think your watching the rare unknown stuff.

Sorry for taking my bad day out on you. I'm still gonna post this though if at the very least to vent.

Bad day? Don't worry just keep trucking and you'll pull through! I don't mind being vented on if it makes you feel any better bud.

Seems as they are looking to upgrade the screen in the consumer version as well. Maybe there is a good side with the crazy resolution war in mobile screens ;)

Agreed.

I can't wait to see what this new dev kit is like. Do you guys think they'll manage to deliver the consumer verison by the end of this year? Maybe in time for christmas 2014?

They have stated that there wasn't going to be too long between the two versions.

By Christmas? I dunno, maybe not. But I could atleast see an announcement towards the end of the year.

Though in the Tested video Nate was very clear they are starting to nail down final specs for it.

CPU: 6700k GPU: Zotac RTX 2070 S RAM: 16GB 3200MHz  SSD: 2x1TB M.2  Case: DAN Case A4
