91c idle on samsung m.2 controller

91c Idle, should I be concerned? It's probably been running at this temp since I bought it in late 2019. Just never bothered to open HWinfo before.

Bought one of those EK heatsinks in case.

 

The drive is a samsung PM981 1TB. I've heard about these things being toasty but 91 idle is surprising lol

Assuming the temp sensor is accurate, yeah that's a bit on the high side IMO.

I've had one (not a samsung) that read at something like 6000 degrees, because the software couldn't read the sensor(s) properly, but a heatsink never hurts.

welp, just realized that the M.2 sits under the hardline-watercooled GPU, so no way of heatsinking it without taking apart the loop. I did put a little 60mm spare fan on top of the PSU to give it some direct airflow, and that dropped the controller temp down to 65idle. idle NAND temps also dropped to 37 from 62. gonna leave it ghetto till the new mobo arrives.
