Is there a reason why you want windows server? Normally a linux based suoltuio would be faster + cheaper. 

 

Do you plan on using storage spaces or hardware raid?

 

Do you want to do anything other than storage on this server?

Linux really isn't that hard to use, and ZFS gives you a lot of nice features here, id really try to use it here.

 

What is your backup plan, where is the data being backed up to?

RAID 10 is a complete waste if you are using 26 drives. Use ZF2 or ZF3. With raid 10, you are loosing 50% of your capacity. With ZF3, you are at 88% efficient while still getting very decent fault tolerance. That is going from 130TB of space to 230 TB of space without any additional cost.

 

Windows has so much additional overhead and junk that it will be much slower than going with Truenas or bare linux.

 

Windows 10g is a bitch to set up and get decent speed out of. Read the boards, people who use windows and 10g cards have to fight to get around 70% of the throughput that linus users get.

Why 10tb drives, id go bigger, like 16tb drives, no reason to use more bays than needed.

 

Id probalby go raid 6 here, iops won't really matter here, and I wouldn't use hdds as a main edit drive, use ssds for that

Id go with raid 6 and use ZFS in linux or freebsd. Use truenas if you want a simple web managed solution, or just run a linux distro like ubuntu..

will say window swill work fine performance wise here. Windows can easily fill 10g these days, and much more if setup right. Windows really won't be that limiting here. I can easily get 10g on windows with no config over smb

ok this is my decision

Server: Storinator Q30

CPU: AMD EPYC 7281

RAM: 512GB

Storage: x26 Seagate 10tb EXOS HDD

OS: Fedora Linux

Raid Config: Raid 6

Pls Mark a solution as a solution, would be really helpful.

after some calculation i found out that i have 218.3 tb of usable space in raid 6

when i went to os area there is no fedora linux can i use debian linux

No you don't. You need a Host Bus Adapter card. The OS handles the raid. And the storinator has the hba in it.

I see six options, I'd go with Freenas. But, I also wouldn't make a build like this in your situation. 😉

My guess is that it is low and that this server will never be purchased. So many people post dream purchases that in the end never get purchased. Good luck.
